I am going on a solo trip to Portugal, arriving from the US on Oct 7. Your YouTube videos are so, so helpful and I am so happy that I found them! Your advice/tips/helpful information give me peace of mind that I will be able to arrive at my accommodation in Bairro Alto by using Metro from the airport. I am meeting my sister and niece who are also visiting from the Philippines. The highlight of my trip will be the pilgrimage to Fatima. I am afraid I was scammed. I bought tickets from where I thought was the Pena Palace site. The site looked legit. It turned out I bought it from TicketGoTourism. Have you heard of other complaints like this? Which website should I buy tickets from if I wanted to go to Pena Palace and the Castle of the Moors? I want to buy another set of tickets. I do not want to get there and be turned away because my tickets are not valid. Quinta da Regaleira has their own website to purchase tickets from, right?

Hi Grace, we don’t know the company you mention but unfortunately there are hundreds of companies wanting to take advantage of uninformed tourists. The tickets should be valid, but you probably overpaid for them. We recommend you buy your tickets for the Pena Palace here and for the Castelo dos Mouros here. Is this the correct site. It now states that the card is 51 Euros for two days which is a good bit more than in your video. Thus, I wondered if the price increased or this is an incorrect site. Thank you very much for your help. Your videos have been fantastic!

Hi Tony, my wife and I will have two days in Lisbon this October we are seniors and found the hotel Marques De Pombal for 365 euros including breakfast south of Pombal square. We are planning a half day trip to visit Ajuda and Queluz palaces and gardens.
Should we try and stay in city center or is this a good deal. Planning just to do some short walking around and have some good food, coffee and pastries, during our short trip.

We quite like the area of Marqués de Pombal (we talk about it on the video on where to stay in Lisbon). We can comment on the price as we would have to do a thorough search for the specific dates of your trip and compare prices to other hotels nearby, but the location is good. All the best!

Hi, açorda is a traditional Portuguese dish, but it’s not original from Lisbon, but from the region of the Alentejo. Your best bet in Lisbon would be the Casa do Alentejo, in the centre of the city.

Hello Beth, you cannot book entry times in advance. But in the Castelo de São Jorge there is a dedicated line for Lisbon Card holders. You can see how the access to the monuments is done in our most recent video on Lisboa cards and tickets here. All the best.

Hi Tony. we love your videos and are planning our first trip to portugal in the beginning of March…we have booked flights. we are staying in lisbon. we intended to do a couple days in porto but now thinking maybe madeira is better option for those days? Any advice is appreciated..
Hi David, in our opinion, Porto deserves a non-negotiable minimum of four nights. Madeira would be the same, makes absolutely no sense to waste money on a return flight if you don’t have enough time for the island. Hi Chris, everything well here. For most attractions, with the Lisbon Card you just enter the attraction, there won’t be any queues. At crowded attractions such as the castle or the Belém Tower (currently undergoing renovations) there is a specific queue for Lisbon Card holders. In the Jeronymous monastery you enter through the same queue as those with a valid ticket. You can see more details here and here. All the best.
